If the photos on the Prince of Petworth's Flickr photostream are any guide, it seems they had a soft opening today for friends and family. Has anyone been in there yet? I peeked in the windows yesterday, and it looks nice!

I went by today for dinner, but they seemed closed. Maybe I was just too early. (I wanted to pick-up take-out after work.)

It was just a soft opening. They are waiting on permitting before they are open for good. Can't wait!!

Man, sometimes I can't stand D.C. Dropped by today, sign on window that opening is postponed indefinitely due to permitting issues. I have yet to hear from anyone that the permitting process in this city is anything but nightmarish. Seems like this could be fixed sooo easily, not something like schools or crime or problems that will require lots of money and creative thought. How hard is it to help local entrepeneurs get off the ground (which benefits the city in the form of more taxes)? This city is a nightmare to start a business in and I really applaud those who have the perseverance to navigate the miles of red tape. Hopefully, the city will get off its a** so that this hotly-anticipated affordable food option will open soon ... they did a great job rehabbing the space quickly and the photos of the food I have seen looked tasty.

A permit expeditor is the best $500 anyone opening a business or doing construction in this city could invest in. Helped me out of numerous pinches and can navigate DCRA very easily.

It would seem easy but the only thing more nightmarish than getting a permit from the Downtown bureaucrats is trying to take away their power and/or their job. If you think they enjoy creating red tape for simple permits you haven't seen their true passion in creating red tape to protect themselves.

Any news on Pho 14, will they be open this weekend? It must suck paying rent on a space and not being able to open due to red tape.

Glorious, I hope that's right!

I got a fever. And the only prescription...is pho.

According to the Prince of Petworth, they're now shooting for Monday or Tuesday. Too bad - this weekend the weather is perfect for a steaming bowl of the stuff. Mmm!

Just walked by and checked out the menu - looks tasty! At least a dozen different pho options, some appetizers (spring rolls, satay, etc), etc.

And they're gonna have banh mi! Love banh mi! Haven't been able to find a banh mi place in DC, I've always gone out to Eden Center out in Falls Church.

I have no involvement in DC permitting...however, I will personally lobby, sweet-talk, bribe, etc. whoever I have to in order to get this place open sooner.....salivating with anticipation!!!

/ok, I wont actually bribe...but...sweet-talking, that's fair game.

My wife and I went there Saturday for an early-ish dinner to beat the crowds. We actually had a very good experience - the service and food were both fine. We each had banh mi, and it was cheap, and tasty. I'll definitely be back. Photos:
