Major Retail Coming to Columbia Heights

DC USA

Columbia Heights is poised to become the shopping destination for the entire Washington, DC area.  Hundreds of thousands of square feet of retail space are in the works including DC USA, a 500,000 sq. ft. retail complex that will include major retailers such as Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, and possibly Whole Foods Market!  More exciting retailers are planning to open in the newly renovated Tivoli Square and other developments across Columbia Heights.  Read more in the Retail News section.

    January 8, 2006
A new banner for Carvel Ice Cream has been posted in front of the retail space between Wachovia and the future Kudo Beans.  The banner also displays the Cinnabon logo.  We are assuming they will be serving Cinnabons as well as ice cream at this location.  See the updated floor plan below.  There are still three retail spaces available ranging from 1368 to 3627 sq. ft.

YAY! More chain stores and restaurants. Now that's progress.

Also the main reason why I moved to San Francisco where independents are supported.

How does San F. support independents?

This page needs to be updated...

All of the above retailers listed under "Now Open" and "Coming Soon" are all open for business.

In addition, The UPS Store and Nash's Sporting Goods are also now open.

Salon Destiny and a coffee shop (Mayorga Coffee?) are opening soon.

I am afraid Nash's Sporting Good may also be closing soon.. it looks awfully quiet every time I pass by. Come on folks, go and buy something good for your health! :)
    Nash's what?

I'd be happy to buy my sporting goods at Nash's if they would decide to sell sporting goods instead of armchair athlete gear. I'm just not willing to go running in a redskins or a wizards jersey. It's too bad, too. I was really looking forward to this place opening so that I wouldn't have to go to Chinatown for athletic gear. I would much rather spend my money in my own neighborhood, but unfortunately Nash's doesn't sell anything I want. I think theirs is a concept that would have been far more effective in a suburban neighborhood with more sports fans and fewer genuinely athletic residents.

Yep. That's why I live in the city. To poke fun at the fat suburbanites.

Lol.. well, I did buy a pair of fairly regular shorts, but I do see your point. Then again, most sports stores in the US seme to me to be the same. Also, did you comment on the selection to the staff? I am sure they would order things that are in demand.
