Major Retail Coming to Columbia Heights

DC USA

Columbia Heights is poised to become the shopping destination for the entire Washington, DC area.  Hundreds of thousands of square feet of retail space are in the works including DC USA, a 500,000 sq. ft. retail complex that will include major retailers such as Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, and possibly Whole Foods Market!  More exciting retailers are planning to open in the newly renovated Tivoli Square and other developments across Columbia Heights.  Read more in the Retail News section.

We received the following tidbit of information regarding three individual storefronts that are currently on the market on 11th St NW:

Three retail storefronts have recently been put up for sale on the 11th Street corridor between Wonderland and Franklin's (11 Street Deli).  One of the storefronts is a 2 story building that sits on the alleyway behind Wonderland, the other 2 are smaller one story storefronts that are next to the 2 story unit.

It would be great to make this information public so that there may be a higher chance that someone from the neighborhood may have a chance to make a move.  I believe the agent stated that the 2 story was listed for $575,000, and the other 2 were going for $550,000 together.  Either way, its a good opportunity for more neighborhood/local retail on 11th Street.

This seems like some great opportunities for you enterprising types who would like to turn your great idea into a business.

WORD on the street is that the deal with the larger 2 story building has fallen off of a cliff. Could be tied up for a while.
