Ellwood Thompson's Natural Market

Ellwood Thompson'sEllwood Thompson's is a very successful, evironmentally conscience natural market based in Richmond, Virginia.  CEO and founder Ryan Youngman would love to bring his natural market concept to Columbia Heights.  Youngman feels that the DC USA retail complex would be the perfect fit.  Show your support for bringing Ellwood Thompson's to Columbia Heights here.

Updates

March 7, 2006

Message from Ernie Marcus of Park Triangle Apartments:

The current done deals are as follows:

  • Citibank
  • 0xxo Cleaners
  • Pollo Campero with outdoor seating
  • T-Mobile
  • Allstate
  • Federal Credit Union

Possible deals:

  • Bedding store
  • Hair Salon

Hoped for/Early discussions underway:

Neighborhood type restaurant with outdoor seating or Coffee House.

On last point, I welcome specific ideas and lobbying. We have a 2,400 sq.ft. space that we are holding out for such use. We are talking up the space but there is still resistance to the neighborhood from restaurant people who think it's still too early. We don't agree.

Initial occupancy is scheduled for March 2006 (subject to change).  The property and a model apartment unit will be ready to be shown mid-late February.

Nice article on Park Triangle. A bakery sounds like a good addition:

Seems like the Bank is Citibank. It is encouraging to see that Park Triangle has been fairly succesfull in attracting retailers. The bakery is fab news, and I keep dreaming of another non-chain nice restaurant.. lol..

    Outdoor seating?

Wasn't the plan/hope to have places with outdoor seating in the triangle-shaped courtyard? It was so beautiful out this weekend that it seemed such a shame to walk by there and only see gravel. A park-like area with grass would be okay too if they can't recruit eateries to set up outdoor seating. But I don't get the gravel. Why not usable space that adds value to the neighborhood?

The currently gravel covered are is part of the Civic Plaza plan that is to cover the whole intersection. I doubt they will start working on it before the DCUSA construction is closer to completion. In the meanwhile The Heights will have outdoor seating and will open later this summer! :)
