I gather no one has heard of any retail coming to the Highland Park?

I actually emailed last week with John Asdoorian, the leasing guy for Highland and Kenyon. I asked about the last spot in Kenyon and all the spots in Highland. He tells me that leases are out, but nothing is signed, so he cannot report anything.

But I'll tell you what - if it's a drycleaner, a bank, a cell phone company, or a dumpy spa I am going to flip out. :)

Don't worry, there will be some clothing or a shoe stores with sensible prices instead. Oh and a fried chicken restaurant or two.

Any news?!? It's been a year since the last post

"G" is right. Theres plenty of service retail/etc in CH now. It's a shame that the corner retail space in Kenyon will be a stupid BB&T bank. The Highland Park retail spaces should be ENTIRELY filled with sit down restaurants.

At the ANC meeting last nite, some bank/credit union presented, saying that they are moving to the neighborhood - to 14th and Irving. I can only assume that means Highland. This influx of banks is getting out of hand - BBT, PNC, Wachovia, Citibank and now this Credit Union. What a waste of prime retail space.

Jim, you mean the big beatiful space right next to the metro entrance in Kenyon Square will be a bank??? OH NO! :(

Really, did not realise CH folks were in such dire need of places to put their money in.. :(

I read in the DC business journal that Highland Park has signed up a lease with the owner/chef of the Oyster Bar in Dupont Circle and a pizza shop called "Pete's Apizza". nice...

This is fantastic news, on both fronts! Kudos to Donatelli. Now we need a quality sushi / japanese place, that would fill another really dramatic whole in area cuisine options.

I assume by apizza it is in this style:

New Haven pizza is great, this would be a great addition. Sounds fairly similar to Red Rocks, but there is certainly room for both, especially by the time Highland Park opens ...

OH MY GOD AND JESUS AS WELL!! :D If the wikipedia definition is what the pizza place is going to serve, I am going to be there every freaking day.. twice a day perhaps! :D

Getting Japanese to CH might still a pipedream, but I would love it too. Would not mind a good thai place either, although there so many of them in the city as a whole nowadays.

A french style cafe would not be bad either, sort of like.. what's it called again.. anyway, on a side street in Georgetown. Good quiche, croque monsier, salads, desserts..
