MetroThe Columbia Heights Metro Station is one of the busiest stations on the Green Line.  It sees 13,900 riders every weekday.  There is already significant overcrowding during rush hour.  During off-peak hours, the frequency of trains does not support the current demand.  The situation will only worsen as Columbia Heights evolves into a central shopping destination with the arrival of the DC USA retail complex and many other new retail developments.  Columbia Heights will also be home to hundreds of new residential units which will only exacerbate the overcrowding issue on the Green Line.  Something needs to be done to alleviate the current problems as well as address the growing demand in the future.
