We received a brief update from owner Paul Ruppert on the fate of Warehouse Theater. The name of the new restaurant / bar / music venue that is planned for the former BiRite Supermarket (3400 11th Street NW) has not been determined yet. Ruppert is still looking for another location for the theater and gallery component of Warehouse Theater.
The following is the full update we received from Paul Ruppert:
I can confirm that we have signed a Letter of Intent to open a restaurant / bar / live music venue at the former BiRite Supermarket at 11th and Park. We are in lease negotiations with the owner of the property and are optimistic that we will be able to come to a final agreement in the near future.
We have met with a few neighbors and are looking forward to sharing our plans with others in the neighborhood.
We are currently interviewing candidates for the chef and general manager positions and have preliminary sketches from the architect. In addition, we are looking for investors.
The restaurant menu will depend on the chef, but most likely will lean towards casual, funky, etc. We hope to open in 9-12 months, but a lot depends on lease negotiations, followed by permits, build-out, inspections, etc.
Unfortunately the building is not large enough for theater or gallery space, so we are still looking for a separate location for the Warehouse Theater and Gallery.
