We received some details on the new bakery set to open at the Park Triangle building this fall. Kirsten Rosenberg, the co-owner sent us the following information:
We are excited to be relocating our shop from Dupont Circle/Adams Morgan to Columbia Heights this fall! In addition to our full line of cakes, cookies, cinnamon buns, and other delectable sweets, we will also be expanding our menu to include a selection of healthy quick meals to go--sandwiches, soups, salads, and more--and all 100% egg- and dairy-free, of course!
Ms. Rosenberg is very excited about being part of the Columbia Heights community. She hopes to open her bakery in October but has not established a firm date yet. For more information, please visit their website at: http://www.stickyfingersbakery.com/.

Written by JJ on 2006-12-06 12:52:45I went this past weekend. The oatmeal-like cookie we shared (called a Cowvil or something like that) was pretty good; the chocolate cupcake with frosting and raspberry was surprisingly tasty (and better than Cake Love!). Defeinitely worh a visit.

on 2007-02-19 01:00:48I tried out the SFB for the first time. Part of the problem was obviously them just trying to iron out the kinks of a new operation (missing good, slow service, etc.) But the service was also disinterested, the cinammon bun tasted like self-imposed punishment, and the coffee was bad. Add that to the preachy atmosphere (do they really need a sign telling you that Fur is not allowed on the premises?) and you've got a coffee shop that saturates you with "moral authority" but falls pretty short in quality.

on 2007-03-26 21:45:20I like the idea of vegan options and wouldn't mind if Sticky Fingers expanded their operation a bit to add more food and service. My problem is that a number of items are just too overpriced and sometimes the quality isn't quite there in the food and in the service. I also don't feel a very good 'cafe vibe' in the place and i think they could do more to make it welcoming. Also, yes, tone down the preachiness. I don't wear fur and I doubt many visitors would, but the sign does a lot more to make the owners feel good about themselves than it ever will to convice a random fur cloaked wanderer who happens to stumble in to change their ways. Lose the sign, lower the price, improve the quality, stay in business.
