After an exhausting day at work and hopping off a crowded bus over to the bustling 14th St. corridor;I almost didn't make the initial visit. My girlfriend coaxed me into joining her at The Heights for an early dinner.

The Heights is an electric place filled w/ a mix of off-the-clock professionals & urbanites. The space, crowded and noisy is tolerable. The neighborhood is quickly approaching "hotspot" status therefore; I don't see any decline in attendance. Inside, we were greeted warmly and sat promptly. Our waiter, George, was very patient, attentive, informative and to say the least handsome.

The menu featured classic dishes and a few new adaptations on a classic. By the looks of a burger we saw floating by us, we couldn't wait to get our orders in.

For cocktails we tried the Three-day weekend and the Stoly Doly. I truly enjoyed the Three Day Weekend (not sure of the name though) which shares the color with a Jelly Belly, 'Juicy Pear'jellybean. The bartender put his/her special touch on it. My friend, her cocktail, she thought was a little too strong for her taste but still a goodie.

For appetizers we both had regular house salads. Fanantical about my greens, I was left a tad disappointed by the appearance of the tender greens looking less than attractive. I ordered the turkey steak drizzled with an unusual but striking honey-mustard sauce served w/ jasmine rice w/an added side of spinach. I would've preferred a nuttier rice but the fragrant jasmine rice was a nice complement. As for my friend's filet mignon stuffed w/ blue cheese, I heard no complaints. We got exactly what we wanted to order. We sampled each others dishes and were pleased.

On the downside, I would say, our wait for our main dishes. There was a slight coordination issue between kitchen and waitstaff. However, with this being a newly-opened dining spot I would assume that this will get better in due time.

Overall, on a scale from 1 to 10 I would rate our experience a 7. There's always room for improvement so I can't wait until my next visit.
