Press Release

Morgan’s Seafood Grand Re-Opening
July 11, 2006

Morgan’s Seafood is proud to announce its Grand Re-Opening on July 15, 2006 at the same great and convenient location, 3200 Georgia Avenue, Washington DC.

Seventy five years ago Morris Morgan opened a neighborhood friendly restaurant which quickly became a staple in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.  Morgan’s Seafood is known for its delicious and mouth watering soul food not to mention our crabs, crabcakes and more.

It is with great humility that we were able to serve some of DC’s finest and we’ll never forget Councilmember Marion Barry patronage to our business.  Councilman Barry not only enjoyed his meal immensely but then he would move us aside while he took over serving our guests!

Although the food is undoubtedly scrumptious it was the pride that Mr. Morgan took in giving to his community which build the foundation that we today after having to overcome major obstacles are able to welcome you, our friends, and family back into our doors.

We thank each and every one of you for not giving up on us!  It’s because of patronage that we succeeded before and through it all it will be your patronage that propels us into many generations to come as we continue to serve you and yours.

It was been a trying and difficult 10 years watching something that we love so much be under the eye of destruction but through it all God sustained us and by His Strength we were made more than Conquerors!

The entire Morgan’s family would greatly appreciate the help of our community in putting the word out that Morgan’s Seafood is back.

We thank you in advance and look forward to seeing you and others on Saturday, July 15, 2006.  Morgan’s Seafood would also like to take this opportunity to thank Councilmember Jim Graham in advance for agreeing to be part of our Celebration.  Also tentatively scheduled to join is Councilmember Marion Barry.

The Celebration begins at 12:30 pm – Councilmember Graham’s expected arrival time is between 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

Sincerely,
The Morgan Family

This is good news? This place looks like an abandon warehouse thats falling down. I find it hard to believe that this business is even up to health codes. Seriously, I don't think it has a front door...

I sure hope this isn't what we mean when we say "revitilize Georgia Avenue"....

Mark-

I sure hope what you mean by "revitalize Georgia Avenue" isn't "get rid of venerable institutions whose owners served the community for years and were forced to close down because over the course of a few years several cars crashed through the front window and their insurance company deemed them too high risk to continue insuring." That would be a shame. Enjoy your Ruby Tuesday's!
Woah! Cool it down a bit!

I think the heat may be getting to some people. I have no problem with the reopening of a restaurant that adds some character to the neighborhood. If you think it looks like a dump, eat somewhere else. But Denise has a point about Ruby Tuesday's. I think we all were hoping for a little more than that with all the new retail space opening up.

Hey, but look up. There's a lot of first floor retail opening up in the next year. Hopefully, there will be more local businesses following in the steps of Rumberos and Sticky Fingers. I think by "revitalize," we all mean having more options.

Interesting.. I thought I had posted a comment already.. I guess my tongue in cheek remarks on the press release and Barry were deemed inappropriate.

My main point was that I will try it. Hope it is decent inside, Mark's comments do make me a bit wary though. And Ruby Tuesday's is fine with me, as long as non-chain ones are also coming to the neighborhood. But I would not necessarily link the two, and in fact, there might be a positive correlation - business attracts business.

Uppss.. my bad. I posted the comment in the more general news piece on dining. Sorry.

The guys working on the place and running the joint seem very friendly, but seriously, they don’t have a front door. And for that reason, I am sure that there are plenty of happy neighborhood rats. So for now at least, I will enjoy my Ruby Tuesdays, and you can enjoy your salmonella.

Lol.. no front door??? You are kidding me, right? How on earth could they get a license (or whatever you need) to operate a restaurant?

Laugh and then puke! Every time I walk by, the place stinks worst than the time before. You might think I am making this up or have something against these people, but I really don’t. It is just a really nasty place, one that should probably be visited by the health inspector.

Morgan's has a door but the window panes to the door are not there. I would not eat from this place; the owners don't seem to concerned with the health issues of residents or violation codes. They can't be serious about serving food!!

So... What are they still doing open? Aren't restaurants supposed to pass some sort of inspection before they can start serving food?
get a grip....

It's about time that morgan's has re-opened. We need more black owned restaurants in this area. It will keep people from going and spending their money with all these asian and korean places.

P.S.
and their food is delicious.
