On Mr. Franklin's Deli

Mr. Franklin brings me into his world where you vibe to old school music, see real lemonade made from real lemons, and drink sweet southern ice tea that takes me back to the days of feel good.

While I am not keen on the desserts (they are not homemade), I highly recommend the come-off-the-bone buffalo wings and chunky chicken salad sandwich on croissant. The pulled pork sandwich needs a bit of rework in my opinion; perhaps extra spicing in the BBQ sauce. Portions are generous and the price is right of the single guy.

While he prepares your order, you get a bit of wisdom from a perspective of living the simple life. In a complex world, it is a refreshing break! We were joking about on-the-job training since they have a cash register but don't know how to use it. Expect them to do the long math...

My opinion is that this is a grab-and-go place since tables are fairly low -- great for children -- but not for adults.

Breakfast starts at 8AM and I am slowly encouraging him to open a bit sooner for the morning rush since the bus stop is just outside his door for those heading downtown.

He is open for Sunday breakfast last I heard but stops serving that meal at noon.

My sons and I tried Franklin's Deli yesterday, and I recommend it to anyone looking for tasty, inexpensive, fry-cook food. The coffee is pretty dreadful, but we got a cheesesteak sandwich and it was delicious. The proprietors were very friendly and did not seem to mind two 17-month-olds running about while they prepared the sandwich.

Because the site where Franklin's is was "in the works" for so long, it is rather hard to tell it is open if you don't already know, so I hope folks will stop by and encourage this new business.

I go for breakfast and get the egg and cheese on crossiant with a side of potatos, excellent and very filling! The guys working are always very nice, it's a great asset to the neighborhood!
