It's so great to have a place close to my house. The coffee is great and the space, while a little small, is beautiful. I am very happy Mayorga is here!

Agree. Went for a drink Friday night, however, there were only two other customers in the entire place. I hope I went during an unusually slow time, but two people in the bar area on Friday night is a little thin. If you haven't made it out to Mayorga, please support.

How's the bar? I've been making regular stops in for coffee, and I've also enjoyed the sandwiches, but I've yet to check out the alcoholic offerings. Seems like a great place for a relaxed evening at the bar though.

I see Mayorga now has a tapas menu -- looks good, I will check it out soon and post a review. Also, this event on Friday night sounds interesting:

Ate dinner at Mayorga. Really, really good, the top quality food I've had in the area, very pleasantly surprised, I highly recommend it. The mushroom dish in particular is amazing.
Loved it!

So I went for drinks there on Wednesday and the bar is really good. They have a good selection of beers and wonderful tapas!

I checked out the bar and the tapas last night. Their tapas is excellent, a step above almost any other tapas place I've visited in the city, and it's pretty reasonably priced for the larger than average portions you get. Try the chorizo sausage and the yuca fries with red pepper aioli. And of course you can't go wrong with a Hook and Ladder to wash it down.
Great tapas, love the bar

I dropped in last night (Tues) with a friend. They had live music. The atmosphere is great, tapas were really good. Happy to have Mayorga in the neighborhood.

I dont get this place. is it coffee shop or an upscale lounge? they need an identity. the music is too loud to do anything that takes concentration.
love it

so i wrote a detailed review about why this place is totally awesome - but for some reason it was deleted from the postings - so, i'll cut to the quick with this one: mayorga is hot. food rocks. service rocks. atmosphere rocks. i love the ambiguity: is it a cafe? is it a bar? is it a restaurant? is it the coolest hangout spot on columbia heights?
yes yes yes yes yes yes
Right place - wrong service

I went yesterday for the first time to listen to the guy who plays guitar every Tuesday although he did not play last night.

I was really impressed with the place. I loved the building, the furniture it was really a surprise to find a place like that in the middle of Columbia Heights (keep them coming!).

Yet, the service was awful. There was a beautiful tall woman that should be sent to ANTM. She has nothing to do serving a bar. She did not seem to enjoy it, she was not kind to people and definitely did not invite you to stay long and have a good time. At the end we decided to go to Mount Pleasant because of the awful service we were receiving.

Hope something can be done about this.

Again compliments on the awesome place!
