Contributed by Greater Washington Urban League Greater Washington Urban League Celebrates “70” Years Of Service With Kick-Off Community Festival
The Greater Washington Urban League is hosting a community festival on Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 1pm-5pm at the GWUL Headquarters located on the corner of 14th & Harvard Street, NW. This event is FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. The festival will consist of much fanfare. Highlights include live musical entertainment by Smooth Jazz artist Marcus Johnson, artists, crafts, food, and prize giveaways. It is a family event, so please bring the children. There will be stilt walkers, dancers, face painters, and much more.
Come help us celebrate! There will be exhibits, vendors, health and education information, voter registration applications, and much more. Chartered Health will provide health screenings; YMCA Traveling Playground and Fitness will conduct child fitness assessments; The D.C. Board of Elections will provide voter registration information, and WPGC Radio will broadcast live during the event.
